As reported by the Desert Sun, the City of La Quinta is considering utility undergrounding in the Cove.

According to the Desert Sun’s article (La Quinta utility lines may go underground | MyDesert.com | The Desert Sun) this effort is not going to be free for the Cove’s homeowners.

So tonight question is: What is your opinion in the matter?

Please post your answers in the comments section.

The City Council is considering a pledge to lower greenhouse gasses by reducing the City’s energy consumption by 10% over the next five years, an important step in combating global warming.  Add your name to those supporting this action.  Attend the Council meeting on Tuesday, March 4 at 6 p.m.

The La Quinta Arts Foundation and the city honored Elliott Newton of La Quinta Cove over the weekend as Distinguished Artist of La Quinta.

Newton, who calls himself “The Potter of La Quinta,” enrolled in ceramics classes at College of the Desert to begin his career, according to the city. He became “addicted,” and now owns a studio on Avenida Ramirez in the La Quinta Cove.

Award nominations are taken from the community and approved by City Council each year.

Recipients’ names are engraved in the La Quinta Artists monument, according to Christi Salamone, executive director of the foundation.

Civic Center Park is the home to three monuments, including one for local veterans, sports figures and artists, according to recreation supervisor Tustin Larson.
