La Quinta Museum Mural #15

October 26th, 2008

Andre Blanchet continues his artistry at the Museum.  Stop by and watch him work Wed-Sat 10-4 and Sundays 1-4.  Be a part of our history and follow the progress of this historic mural.

If you haven’t reviewed the short videos of all the city council candidates on this website, take a look in the October archives.  This is a great chance to get a glimpse of the people you’ll be voting for on November 4 (or perhaps before then).

BY THE WAY…. Remember if you’ve requested a vote-by-mail ballot, be sure you sign it.  Then, you can a) mail it in (must be received in Riverside by election day), b) bring it to City Hall or any official depository, or c) bring it to ANY precinct on November 4.  If someone else is bringing in your vote-by mail ballot for you, BE SURE you both sign the ballot.  If you’ve lost your ballot, you can come to your precinct and vote a provisional ballot (this will take longer).

THERE ARE ELEVEN PRECINCTS IN LA QUINTA, FIVE FOR COVE RESIDENTS.  TWO PRECINCTS ARE AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER.  To save time, be sure you get to the correct precinct the first time!  Early voting at the mall is over, so prepare to come to your precinct. No “electioneering” is allowed within 100 feet of the precinct door, so shed those T-shirts, candidate buttons and caps before you arrive…

IF YOU’RE VOTING ON NOVEMBER 4. BE SURE to bring your red, white and blue Sample Ballot to the polls.  This will facilitate your voting.  STUDY AND MAKE YOUR SELECTIONS BEFORE YOU COME, as it’s way too complicated to study in the voting booth.  Check the location (on the back of the booklet), as polling places are changed from time to time to accommodate the number of voters in each precinct.  AVOID RUSH HOURS if you can.  Early morning, noon and 4-6 p.m. are peak voting periods.  There may be lines, so bring your patience with you.  You will receive a two-page paper ballot, so do your homework before you arrive…..

If you are a first-time voter, you will need official identification.

If you are in doubt about your voting place you can input your address  at this website http://www.smartvoter.org/ca/rv/  Or call the Registrar of voters at 800-773-VOTE (8683).  If you have moved and not re-registered, you will have to vote a provisional ballot, which will take more time.  If you have a name change, you can correct it at the polling place.

Good luck and BE SURE to vote!

Especially for children, ages three and older.  Come to the La Quinta Museum on Saturday (25th) from 2-3 p.m. and experience REAL LIVE desert animals FOR FREE.  A wonderful program for all our children.
