LQ CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) participated in a Home Depot earthquake event on Saturday. The major excitement was the trailer that simulated a 7.5-8.0 earthquake. Take a look at the jolt, then get busy on your earthquake kit: get it started or refresh your food and water…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xI_lqBKGxwk

Are you using your grey recycling bin????
May 23rd, 2010
Recycling makes good sense for EVERYONE, and it doesn’t take much effort. Sometimes an extra inside trash can will make this more convenient. The City has goals to meet to reduce land fill items, and we ALL want to do our bit to control unneeded environmental waste.
Hopefully most of your weekly trash is recyclable: papers, cans, bottles, cardboard, lids, phone books, etc. Use your biggest container for these items.
What’s left? Food, clothing, Styrofoam, medical stuff, soiled paper, bubble wrap, chemicals and oils.
Keep your batteries, bulbs and electronic items aside for hazardous waste days.
Don’t forget your green bin for lawn cuttings, tree trimmings, and plants (not food). Got dirt? put it in the brown bin with the landfill items.
CHECK YOUR BLOCK TO SEE HOW MANY NEIGHBORS ARE USING THEIR GREY RECLCYLING BINS. TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO HELP OUR ENVIONMENT. IT’S EASY AND IT’S IMPORTANT. Questions? Call Burrtec at 340-2113
