Clean-up day big success
October 10th, 2010
They did it again! On Saturday October 9 about 40 people, including students from La Quinta High School, the Cove Neighborhood Association, the Stewards of the Fred Wolff Bear Creek Nature Preserve, and other residents of La Quinta met for the Top of the Cove Clean & Pristine Project. They cleaned the area at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains National Monument. A team on the west side that cleaned the Preserve down to Avenida Ensenada and a team on the east side that cleaned all the way down to Avenida Villa. They made a difference!
Thanks to Mishael Patton who organized the effort to rid our city’s great park areas of the litter left behind by careless and irresponsible trail users. Any ideas on how we can get those lazy folks to put their trash in the cans and pick up after their dogs?

Heatwave Concert
October 1st, 2010
The Gerald Ford Boys and Girls Club of La Quinta played an amazing concert at the Museum for First Friday on October 1. The band members range in age from ten to eighteen. This is an amazing group, and the audience was completely enthralled. There were some terrific soloists and lots of spirit. The audio does not do justice to these kids, but here are seven segments. Look closely, your neighbors might be in the band.
