Last week the laquintacove.org moderators tried a new approach: Instead of making DAILY postings, we posted only on Monday and Thursday, thinking that every day might be too much for our readers. Maybe fewer days with MORE news is better.
Now we have some questions for you. Please take a moment to respond by clicking on POST COMMENTS.
1. What frequency do you prefer for postings? (for example, once a week, twice a week, daily, etc.)
2. What postings do you like best? (announcements of coming events, reports on past events, talk-back, videos, photos, etc.)
3. What interest topics are we missing, or what should be stressed more? (for example, local sports, health, safety, earthquakes, more politics, less politics, etc.)
4. What general suggestions do you have for the website, to increase information and the feeling of “community” in the Cove?
Remember, you don’t have to leave your name (you can invent one) but you MUST leave an email address.
PLEASE LET US KNOW YOUR PREFERENCES! THANKS

twice a week is ok by me

I appreciate all information I get from the Desert. I live in San Antonio, TX but have a lot of Tejano friends who live there. I used to live there as well during late 70s and early 80s. However, receiving news from the Desert twice a week is fine.
Keep up the good work! La Quinta has certainly grown!
My granddaughter lives in La Quinta – Hugs and Kisses to her – Tianna Teran!

All the news are fun to read, but it’s getting too much. I was thinking about to unsubscribe for awhile, if it decrease to two E-mail per week, I would keep it.

1 Weekly, except when a really important subject crops up. Then highlite as a urgent notice( series of home breakins and what to look out for; lost child or dangerious dog on loose, etc)
2. Tiein historical notes now and then. WE’ll help supply. All of rest are good. Maybe use some of energy saving or home improvements info from city, utlity, company’s with technical data available for better living, landscaping tips. etc.
3. School Children awards, family efforts to help others in Cove, special people who serve our city as police, fireman, teachers and pastors living in the Cove. It nice to know your neighbor in community service.
4. Where we came from to live here. Bios on people with some fame IN ANY FIELD. Humor. Funniest story of the month or picture. Cove Citizen of the year award for Comminuty Service or just kindness in neighborly help.Add in a kids bogg once in awhile. They report on what fun or whats going on that they like about the Cove..or what they would like to see changed, improved or added to fit the school age populations,,and report when changes are made.Suggest and promote a Cove street exchange fair. Everyone brings something to exchange or trade with their neighbors. From books, to baked goods to household items, etc. No money, Just swapping.
Hope there is some helpful idea(s) above. SPECIAL REQUEST: We could use some of your very professional help in setting up a Hisorical Society Website this fall. Is anyone avaiable? Much thanks. Don Arends, President of LQ Historical Society.

I like what you are doing. I am a new subcriber, and maybe you already include this, but how about crime statistics and what our Police or residence are doing about it.Things such as burglaries, theft, and violent crimes. Also, maybe show casing certain beautiful homes or unusual architecture. Not only Spanish Colonial or Santa Fe but maybe Modern or Eclectic styles. How about an update on the new LQ Museum and its offerings. How about featured articles by talented local writers. Anyway, that is my two cents worth. Looking forward to future postings.
Thank you and have a great day!

Monday is quite enough

I will read and enjoy however may times you post it….but twice or once a week sounds reasonable…don’t want our reporters burning out–

Twice a week or daily. I really enjoy them. Once a week would be too long.
I like a variety of the postings – all is of interest.
Not much of sports fan, and other subjects covered on internet
I just love it as it is! La Quinta is a new part-time home for me, so I enjoy even daily postings and feeling in touch while I’m away.

I think once a week is OK.

I’m all for twice/three times a week and agree that once a week might be too long. My favorite parts are the comment sections and the Talk Back feature…..but, we are delighted with all the stories including reminders of upcoming events. i like the Mayor’s idea of doing stories on cove indivduals, why they moved here and what they like about our cove.Keep up the good work!

Once a week is plenty. Every day is overwhelming! Even once a month, or bi-monthly would be fine–let us know what’s happening, when, where, etc. Thanks.

I would like to see weekly mailings, with notice of ev ents at least a week in advance. Monthly calendar would to be nice if you can manage it and make it clickable — click on the day or event and it provided more info. Love the site !

I’m afraid we are not set up for a calendar, SA. The City site does have one that is clickable. As you see, the “vote” is running strongly for twice weekly. This means more listings on those two days (Monday and Thursdays?). We moderataors will have to develop a pace now, to update folks in advance. The Desert Sun has a calendar section in their Thursday edition which may be useful to you. In the meantime, we will do what we can to keep the info coming.
