LQ Picnic draws a big crowd

The LQ Emergency Services department conducted a CERT training recently (Community Emergency Response Team).  The culmination of three sessions was a mock disaster with trainees performing triage and first aid to “victims”.  Twenty-eight more community members have been trained to assist in the event of a disaster.  Here’s a little clip   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFVVer8szw4

Animal Samaritans presented a 3-hour training for City employees and your Community Emergency Response Team last week.  Here’s a short look at the training, done at the Emergency Operations Center under City Hall.  If YOU would like to take this course, call Animal Samaritans at 760-343-4326.

The CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Volunteer Coordinator was awarded the “President’s Volunteer Service Award” at the recent volunteer meeting.  Paula Deal received a certificate and an official White House letter signed by President Obama, honoring her for expertise and her many hours of service to the community.  Way to go, Paula!
