Call the Senior Center for an appointment for FREE tax help, sponsored by AARP.  Starting in February, every Tuesday and Friday, a tax specialist will be available to give you a hand.  But you MUST call ahead 564-0096… assistance runs through April.

Also at the Senior Center, call ahead for the February 16 Valentine Luncheon.  Prior registration is required.  For a whole $2, this is a deal.  Cheapest date in town for your sweetie!  Again, 564-0096.

Come and see performers of all ages strutting their stuff from 6-8:30 p.m. on Friday (15th).  It’s free and it ought to be great fun.

The switch to drought-resistant landscaping has been completed at the Community Policing building in the Village.  Here’s a little tour of the improvements.

Also, you may have noticed the ripping out of sod along La Fonda in front of the Senior Center, Library, Civic Center Park and City Hall.  These are destined for similar new landscaping, as well as the flagged areas along Tampico for these same buildings.  We are told that a MILLION gallons of water is used to irrigate city land, and this amount will be reduced by these improvements.

Business was brisk at the Senior Center last Tuesday for flu and pneumonia shots.

The monthly dance at the Senior Center will feature the Tough Guys and Gals Do Dance group from LQHS.  These kids are HOT.  They will do some exhibition dancing and mingle with the “older” dancers.  $2 gets you in the door for all the fun.  Friday night (9th) from 6-8:30 p,m.

• THE YOUNG: Story time at the Museum on Wednesday (7th) at 10:00 a.m.  for ages 3-5 years.  Bring your little ones….
• THE REST OF US: Don’t forget the free immunizations at the Senior Center on Tuesday (6th) from 9-1:00.  Bring those insurance cards.
• SENIORS: Afternoon Queen’s Tea on Thursday (8th) at noon.  Dress up in your finest.  Call ahead 564-0096 and reserve your place for a mere $2. 

The Golden Tones Choir will entertain the lucky diners on Thursday (December 18).  The Holiday Luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and the price is right:  $1.  Hurry on over….

The Senior Center will serve a Thanksgiving feast on Thursday, November 20, at 11:30. Reservations are required, so call 564-0096 to get your name on the list for a great lunch and entertainment, too. All this for….. just one dollar!
