TALK BACK - DOGS

FROM LARRY & SHARON
| We live at the top of the cove and walk on the paseo next to the wash. In the past few months, dog waste has become quite a nuisance. We were walking our granddaughter with her little bike and she could hardly ride a straight line for all the dog litter. Also many dog owners think that once they get on the path they can let their dogs off the leash and they are running all over the place. While we haven’t seen any dog fights or attacks, I am afraid that it will happen sooner or later. Can something be done about this. Maybe a spontaneous patrol of the code enforcement people. It happens mostley in the morning but there are several dog walkers in the early evening. Thanks for you help.
FROM THE MODERATOR: To Larry and Sharon, You must be a new subscriber to the website and we welcome you. The inconsiderate dog owners who allow their dogs to run off the leash are a constant problem and it has been addressed with the City Animal Control folks. They are doing intermittent patrols to cite the offenders. There is a leash law in this state and the city tries to enfoce it. However, they are not there all of the time so it is important to report violations via the City website or to call Code Enforcement/Animal Control. The dog feces is a unbelievable problem in our beautiful and pristine area of the cove. It is a violation of Municipal Codes and a slap in the face to reasonable people who cannot believe that people do not clean up after their dogs. There is a twice a year cleanup of the area by volunteers and the main problem is dog feces. Why do dog owners believe that cleaning up is someone else’s job and not for them to worry about? Does anyone know why this problem exists? Do the dog owners clean up after their dog in their own home? I wonder. |

On the trail I have noticed that there are 2 trash cans from the Calle Chillon rest stop to the top rest stop. Then from there to the Oasis there is another 2. However, from the Calle Ensenada rest stop to the Calle Chillon rest stop(the longest stretch) there are 0 trash cans. Can we get another trash can along there? That may cut down on the amount of dog waste in that stretch.

Dear Larry and Sharon, thank you for reporting with candor your observations not only about the disgusting amount of dog waste that it is truly a public nuisance and health hazard, but also about the total disregard for the law by what seems to be the majority of dog owners. NO AMOUNT of garbage cans will bring these inconsiderate and unconscionable people to dispose of their dog waste. THEY REALLY CANNOT SMELL ANYTHING UP THERE… THERE IS NOT SUCH A PROBLEM IN THEIR EYES! I have seen them letting their dogs taking a dump right in the middle of the path and walk away from it, while a perfectly functional GARBAGE CAN was just feet away. Just pure and simple Neanderthal behavior.

Instead of complaining about the issues…why not try to create solutions??

SOLUTION: The Neanderthals (aka inconsiderate and unconscionable dog owners) - MUST CLEAN UP AFTER THEIR DOGS AND KEEP THEM ON THE LEASH - as required by the LAW.
PROBLEM SOLVED!
