TALK BACK FROM JOE REGARDING PALM ARSON
August 18th, 2010
Residents of the Cove should be on Alert. Their is an arsonist setting Palm Trees on fire. He struck two weeks ago in the bottom of the cove along Avenida Carranza and Montezuma. And then struck again in the Yucatan Cove the follwing week. The police department has survillence video and my understanding is the Fire department is investigating. I am very concerned and wonder waht if anything is be done to catch this nut cake.!
If any one knows of any mysterious fires anywhere else in the Cove, please contact the police at the non-emergency number (800-950=2444) or if the crime is in progress, call 911. THANKS, Joe.

We’ve had at least three incidents in the Yucatan cove, one at an unoccupied home. These seem to be set around 3-4 a.m. Our concern is that there are a number of homes throughout the cove with palm trees that haven’t been trimmed, making them natural torches if set aflame. They would naturally threaten nearby homes. Seems there is a definite need for more pre-dawn patrols.

Vikki, have you reported this pattern to the police or fire department?

Who is Joe?

“Joe” is a reader who wrote the original message. I didn’t use his last name, is as our custom. He’s a Cove resident, I presume.

My house burned to the ground on November 24, Thanksgiving Day around 3 am …the Palm trees were trimmed. Why doesn’t the Cove Association alert homeowners when things like this happen? Has the Palm Arson been caught? Is there a pattern? Has anyone been hurt?
