THIS FROM CM YESTERDAY:

I live on Carranza, across from Bear Creek Walk and I love it! However last week I noticed a very tall pole was installed at the utility yard adjacent to my house and front yard. It has a diamond shape on top and it is obstructing the glorious view tof the mountains that we and our neighbors enjoy. Has the city made a deal with Verizon perhaps to install this monstrosity there, and if so, shouldn’t we, who live across the street from it, had a vote in its placement?

CM, I will forward this to City Hall and see what we can uncover about it.  Maybe it’s an IID installation?  Anyone have any knowledge of this?

  1. Heard from another City Staffer Says:

MC, this must be the temporary (permitted for 90 days) Verizon cell tower placed at the maintenance building. They are in the process of getting approval for a permanent location within the resort property. Suilding and Safety Deparatment has it on their calendar to make sure it is removed as scheduled.

THANKS FOR ASKING. DO WE HAVE THE CORRECT POLE??

  2. Heard from City Staffer #3 Says:

I believe what you are referring to is a temporary wireless unit that Verizon recently established at the Dunes GC maintenance facility. They were recently granted a 90 day temporary use permit for this activity as they are working to establish a permanent tower at the LQ Resort. The Planning Department is currently processing the permit for the permanent tower; however, it is likely to take longer that 90 days for entitlement and additional time will be necessary to obtain a building permit and to construct the tower (which is proposed as a flagpole). Therefore, I already anticipate that Verizon will request additional time for the temporary tower but we want to make sure that they in fact establish a perment tower. Thank you.
