Thank you, Mishael for writing a very clear and comprehensive article on this critical issue. I am not sure why there is NO OUTRAGE whatsoever on this very issue by the residents of La Quinta. What does incline our fellow co-residents to stay silence on this CITY GOVERMENT totalitarian attitude? What you mean there will be no VOTE on this ill-conceived HELL-NEXATION? How is it possible that the citizens of La Quinta don’t understand that this action will result in ALL the problems described in this article including FIRST and FOREMOST – DECLINING PROPERTY VALUES? Have you ever heard of “Brand Dilution”? Brand dilution is the weakening of a brand (in this case La Quinta) though its overuse. This frequently happens as a result of ill-judged brand extension ( in this case Annexation.) This action increases volumes ( in this case City Size) but moves a brand down-market causing damage to the brand ( in this case Property Values and Standards of Living) – This is a quintessential case of “wanting to be too many things to too many people” – Make La Quinta vibrant – not bigger.

Hi Mishael,
Your write-up in today’s Desert Sun is right on point…annexation of this acreage from our sphere of influence into La Quinta makes no economic or land use sense.
Good editorial……let’s make La Quinta better, not bigger.
